I am happy to report I have worked out how to do it and Paul McManus of "seven prayers of power" infamy is now blocked from advertising on this site.

Praying to God to make myself rich is wrong enough but praying God make rich the dishonest man who sold me the prayers in the first place doesn't even make sense.

Hmmm, then again maybe we should be praying for him.

Christian Television Association Easter Campaign

I commend to you the Christian Television Association  (Victoria) campaign for Easter 05.

The TV spot itself can be downloaded from our web site www.cta.org.au where you can also see the free postcards that have been distributed across the city.

From before I joined the CTA board our message has remained the same: "Loved by God". This Easter our creative team have found a beautiful and poignant way of expressing this Gospel truth.

When designing the campaign, we had in the back of our minds the many questions people were asking about God after the destruction of the tsunami. While the spot does not overtly address this disaster, the lyrics affirm both people's doubts and the truth that God "is the treasure I seek".

I haven't been watching much TV this weekend, but wonder if those who do see it on air had any reactions.

The song we used by British duo Note for a Child is called Impossibly Beautiful and its lyrics include:

Magic the Gathering: New Banned and Restricted list

In my first post I said this blog would also cover Magic the Gathering a collectible card game that keeps me amused. Magic the Gathering was the first (and in my biased opinion the best) game in the genre that has spawned Yugioh and others. It is like chess where each player gets to choose the pieces with which they will play. Each card - and there are 1000s of different ones - modifies or twists the rules in some way. The aim is twist the rules to result in you winning (or your opponent losing) in one of a several ways.

The cards themselves include art and a narrative mythology to add imaginative flavor and creative depth to the game. There is even an international circuit of tournaments for professional players. Since the game is popular among high school boys it has been a valuable tool for our church's youth ministry - at least, that's what I tell myself to justify my investment in this pastime ;) Any way on to the topic at hand...

This week the ruling body that overseas the competition, the DCI,  announced cards that will be restricted (can only use one copy of the card in your deck) or banned (cannot be used at all in competition play). The cards banned in the standard format of the game from March 20 are:

Arcbound Ravager, Disciple of the Vault, and all the Artifact lands (Ancient Den, Great Furnace, Seat of the Synod, Tree of Tales, Vault of Whispers, Darksteel Citadel).

The Truth is Out There
